About Windsor, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Aiken County, South Carolina, Windsor is a very small town with only about 120 residents. It is found in the Augusta, GA Metro Area, and with only 0.66 square miles of total area, the community is also small geographically. Windsor receives its name from Anderson Windsor, a former landowner who lived in the community in the early 1800s. Windsor is located about 35 miles from Augusta, GA and about 50 miles from Columbia, SC.
The most prominent attraction located in Windsor is Aiken State Park. This park is found on the South Edisto River, offering a nearly two mile long canoe and kayak trail. Fishing is popular, with catfish and bass being plentiful in the river. When visiting the area, you can rent a boat, canoe, or kayak, enjoy a three mile hiking trail, spend some time with your kids on the playground equipment, look for local birds, or go for a swim during the warm summer months.
As part of the humid subtropical climate zone, summers in Windsor can be quite uncomfortable at times. Average highs in July, which is the hottest month of the year, will reach the mid-90s on average, but some days can see thermostat readings of over 100. If a new, energy efficient central air conditioner isn’t in your budget this season, you should be sure to have your existing system serviced during the cooler spring months. This will ensure that your system is working at optimal efficiency to keep your home cool and utility costs low.
Winter weather in Windsor tends to be more pleasant, as high temperatures in the coldest month of January tend to reach the upper 50s. However, conditions cool off considerably overnight, leading to freezing conditions. A heat pump or furnace is crucial in keeping home interiors warm during these months, and your HVAC professional can also ensure that these systems are working properly before they are needed.
